Website Design for Grammy Winning Album "The Mix Up" | 2008 + Viral Video Campaign
I was hired to design a new website for the Beastie Boys. I came up with the concept of website-as-electronic-instrument working with the concept of the instrumental album "The Mix Up". I photographed real audio equipment in their studio and collaged together elements to create a website that felt like you were using a vintage mixer. Knobs actually pushed to make sounds and it included archival material, discographies, a blog, tour dates, and a home for the active BB message board. The only thing we didn't get on here was the "download a snack" function.
Spiros Antonopoulos and Roberto Maiocchi handled the nuts and bolts behind the scenes.
The "viral video campaign" was a teaser for the album that reveled a new video every day.
