Whatz Up! News is an extraordinary new TV show that inspires youth to take an active interest in current events. It asks "What would the news be like if youth had the freedom to write it?"
It was created by filmmaker, artist, and gospel singer Laura Newman in a partnership with the Lower East Side Girl's Club of New York, Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) and several professional teachers, filmmakers, and journalists. Under the auspices of these organizations, 16 kids will be mentored during the creation of a 15 min program on current events.
Laura asked Splendid Corp. for a logo that captured the spirit on fun and inquiry that Whatz Up! News was to be. In a short time period we worked together to come up with a logo that could be used in a sample video and to represent the project.
